11 June - the end is in sight

This is the last but one session. For the drawing activity a large, 7 foot high sheet of perspex is brought in to provide a surface for the boys to work on. Taking inspiration from the earlier drawings, they start to fill up the surface. Plenty of space to fill up next week though.

Dan works on some more text with some lads - writing the project title using light.

4 June 2008 - I'll get my coat

Invited into a meeting at the centre, Dan produces a light drawing to show members of the community the kind of thing that the boys are doing - followed by a couple of experiments around the centre with the boys.

The boys continue to work alongside Claire - creating fabulous drawings showing more awareness of use of colour and composition, and reflect their love of flash cars.

28 May 2008 - Pizza in exchange for art

A large group gathers in the youth club for the art project (possibly spurred on by a damp Burnley evening outside). Dan works with some of the lads in the sports hall - drawing around figures, writing names and creating a fab football light drawing.

Claire uses the photographs taken earlier in the month and gets more lads producing drawings onto perspex and acetate - experimenting with composition and markmaking.

A successful evening's art, all polished off with a couple of Asian special pizzas

21 May 2008 - This is an art only area

In an effort to gather a solid group of young people, the youth club begins to operate a period of 'project work' time between 7 and 8pm. During this time the the young people have the opportunity to develop their work.

More considered drawings are produced on larger sheets of Perspex, which will be framed as part of the exhibition in June.

14 May 2008 - Lighter nights

With the longer, lighter nights, Dan works indoors with some of the boys, experimenting with drawing around figures.
